With more than 50,000 members, American Mensa is the largest national Mensa operating under the auspices of Mensa International, Ltd.  There are currently more than 100,000 members worldwide, and an estimated six million Americans are eligible for Mensa membership.

Members of American Mensa range in age from 4 to 100. They include engineers, homemakers, teachers, actors, athletes, students and CEOs, and they share one trait — high intelligence. To qualify for Mensa, they scored in the top 2 percent of the general population on an accepted standardized intelligence test.

Purposes of Mensa

Mensa has three purposes, which are outlined in its Constitution. They are:

bullet

bullet

To encourage research into the nature, characteristics and uses of intelligence.

bullet

To provide a stimulating intellectual and social environment for its members.

May 16 MGM Sarwat Husain is tentatively scheduled to speak on Islam. Watch for a later announcement. She is President of the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and editor of a related periodical. She has a very busy speaking schedule and has spoken to our group in the past. Husain was well received and very interesting. She wrote an insightful article on New Year's Day for the Express-News editorial page concerning the Bhutto assassination.

Please see our monthly schedule and download the May MenSA bulletin...
